The Siebren Smink Trio, with Omer Govreen on bass and Enea Besana on drums, is Siebren’s longest running project. The compositions are intricate, complex and show a lot of influence of the jazz giants, Zappa and classical music, but with the input of the band the music takes on different dimensions. Heavy artillery on drums, compelling chaos on the bass and a guitar style that seems to resemble an avant garde Jimi Hendrix, with a heavy influence from the jazz tradition. The trio released their first record, Ravens Are Smart, and next to playing regularly in The Netherlands they went on tour to Switzerland, to bring this music to the people. Their plan is to record their next record, with new compositions and new ideas to explore.
